In this advanced English listening about the night of the Oscars, you will hear who took the 85th Acadamy awards. The 85th Academy awards ceremony is ………………… There weren’t many surprises except for some red carpet dress choices.
Argo, a movie about the joint CIA-Canadian operation in 1980s Iran which smuggled the American diplomatic personnel out of the country, got the ……………………….. The academy chose it instead of Lincoln- a picture about the American president who emancipated the African American slaves in 1860s. Best director, however, became Ang Lee, ……………………………………………. of Yan Martel’s Life of Pi. This was the movie that got most awards this year (four): best picture, best cinematography, best original score, and best ………………….
Daniel Day Lewis as Lincoln, became the best actor in a leading role, and since it is his third time, he is already in the record books. The surprise of the evening was Jennifer Lawrence who ‘stole’ the award from the 86 year old Emmanuelle Riva, ………………………… for best actress. Unfortunately, Lawrence will not remember the evening only with her first Oscar. On her way to the stage she tripped into her dress and tumbled on the stairs, probably experiencing every celebrity’s ………………….
Predictably, Anne Hathaway took the prize for supporting actress for her mesmerizing performance as Fantine in Tom Hooper’s Les Misérables. Victor Hugo’s adaptation …………………………………………: for best make-up, and best sound mixing.
Django Unchained brought Quentin Tarantino an Oscar for best original screenplay, this time he …………………………. for best director.
Another expected win was Adele’s best original song for her Bond theme.

    I’m using this website for listening exercises in my English Classes. I have to say they’re one of the best ideas ever, My students are very happy because they feel the tests are connected to modern subjects
    I’d love to have any update or to know about any other web like this since it seems that there’s not a possibility of subscription
